The law considers that the seller of the goods is liable for breaches of contract, such as goods being faulty. Traders cannot restrict their liability for faulty goods and are therefore liable to offer refunds on any faulty goods.
When you have a problem with faulty goods or services, it is often a good idea to put the details of your complaint in writing. You will want to make this letter as effective as possible. If, following letters of complaint, you still have a problem with a trader (builder, bank or tour operator etc) a carefully worded ‘letter before action’ may help you obtain redress before continuing in small claims courts.
This letter is appropriate ‘letter before action’ if you have received faulty goods and are seeking a refund which you have requested, but not received.
